CHAPTER 1
THE DRILL
You’re probably wondering who I am. I was just an
ordinary person before this mess. I was leading an oil
drilling operation in the sea, about 55 km away from the
coast of Northern Australia with my crew. I knew we
were drilling way too deep for the drill, but the company
thought we were above an oil pocket, so we had no choice.
I was leading the mission and the company had made me
a deal.
They said, “You have one week to finish this mission, and
if you’re successful, you will get a 50% boost in your pay.”
I really needed the boost.
I overheard a crew member named William shouting for
my attention. He seemed panicked as he informed me
that the drill was causing damage to our station. Despite
his concern, I instructed him to continue with the drill.
After a couple of minutes, there was a significant impact
on the base, causing other crew members to come out in a
state of panic. One crew member, Ronnie, speculated that
someone might have been hurt due to the expression on
his face. Another crew member, Michael, asked what had
happened, with a shaky voice. William then suggested
that the ongoing drill may have accidentally hit a living
organism, causing the entire base and the drill to start
